Getting to Puerto del Carmen and Lanzarote

Getting to Puerto del Carmen from Lanzarote Airport (ACE), also known as Arrecife Airport, is super easy as it's a short 10-15min drive. Choose to rent a car, call a taxi or take the regular airport bus.

European Flights

Lanzarote airport is well connected with many European airports, especially in Germany and the UK. If you can't find a direct flight, there are always plenty of options with a stopover in mainland Spain. Regular and charter airlines fly to the island, and you can find real bargains outside the holidays.

Long Haul Flights

Reaching Lanzarote with long-haul flights usually means you’ll have to stop at a larger European airport first, with Madrid and Barcelona being the best connected among the many airports with direct flights to the island.

Renting a Car

for the maximum of flexibility

Renting a Car

Unless you plan on making many trips and excursions or if your accommodation is far away from the courts, there is no need for a rental car. Considering the limited parking availability in Puerto del Carmen, you will prefer walking.

When renting a car, it's vital that you check the terms & conditions, as most rental companies try to sneak in extra fees. Check the included kilometers and what payment options are available; having the wrong card can cost you dearly. Does your credit card's insurance policy include rental car insurance? It might. Lastly, if you return the car at an unattended parking/office, ALWAYS take several photos of the parked car. This way you protect yourself from damage fraud.

Taking a Taxi

Taking a Taxi

The most comfortable way to get to your accommodation is to take a taxi. As the airport is very close to Puerto del Carmen, you'll be at your island "home" in no time. Expect a 15 min drive that will cost you roughly €17, including a small tip if you are happy with their driving skills.

If you are attending a camp during peak season, we recommend pre-booking a taxi, as the capacity is very limited. You could get stuck waiting for hours if you are unlucky. Use the link to access their online taxi reservation. Please note, Volleytours.com has no affiliation with this transfer service.

Public Transport

by bus to the courts

Public Transport

As Puerto del Carmen is less than 10km from the airport, the local bus line 161 is a great option to get to and from the airport. The bus fare is less than €2, and the trip takes about 20mins. Bus 161 runs from Terminals 1 and 2 every 30-60min depending on the day and hour, but on holidays they only run every 2 hours. Visit Intercitybus Lanzarote for the timetable. »
