Albanien & Durrës
A holiday with heart, flavour, and Mediterranean flair
Albania is one of those countries you visit and immediately wonder why you didn’t go much earlier. The country feels both familiar and new at the same time: Mediterranean sunshine, a warm climate, a relaxed way of life – and people who are so open and welcoming that you feel at home right away.
It’s this mix of authenticity and lightness that makes Albania so special. Many things remain unspoiled and genuine. You can feel that the country isn’t built for mass tourism – and that’s exactly where its charm lies. Anyone who has been there remembers the smell of freshly grilled vegetables, the incredibly soft evening light, and conversations with locals that are never superficial.
Durrës – eine lebendige Stadt direkt am Meer

Durrës – a vibrant city right by the sea
Durrës is a fascinating port city that instantly gives off a Mediterranean vibe. The waterfront promenade is colourful, lively, yet relaxed; people sit in cafés, children play by the water, and the restaurants smell of seafood, garlic, lemon, and fresh pasta.
The city blends a young, modern energy with thousands of years of history. In the afternoon, you can stroll through the old streets or visit the impressive amphitheatre right in the middle of the city. In the evening, Durrës comes to life: the lights of the harbour promenade reflect on the water, music drifts from the bars, and the sunset bathes the entire coastline in warm colours.

Kulinarik – eine Küche, die jeden begeistert

Cuisine – a culinary experience that delights everyone
Albanian cuisine is one of the biggest surprises for many visitors. It combines Mediterranean lightness with Balkan flavours, Italian influence, and a generous dose of passion. Eating in Albania means enjoyment, time, and genuine hospitality.
Fish and seafood come fresh from the Adriatic. Many restaurants prepare them just the way you hope for: simple, honest, and full of flavour. Fresh herbs, lemon, olive oil – often that’s all it takes. Alongside, you’ll find grilled vegetables, creamy dips, homemade breads, and fantastic pasta that easily rivals the Italian original.
If you want to try local dishes, you shouldn’t miss Byrek, Tavë Kosi or grilled cheese – simple dishes but packed with flavour. Prices are pleasantly fair, and often you’ll be sitting just a few steps from the sea.

... der wahre Grund, warum man wiederkommt

… the real reason why people return
What excites guests the most is not just the sea or the great food – it’s the people. Albanians are warm-hearted, helpful, and incredibly hospitable. You feel more like a welcomed visitor than a tourist. There are hardly any moments when you don’t feel safe, appreciated, or well taken care of.
Whether in a restaurant, while shopping, or walking along the promenade at night: the atmosphere is relaxed, friendly, and safe. Many guests say they instantly felt “right in the middle of their holiday” – no stress, no rush, just the genuine smiles of the people who live here.
